• Castle Pass Trip
Start the 2025 snowcamping season by snowshoeing on an overnight trip over Castle Pass in the Lake Tahoe area. We will start early on Friday morning from the Donner Summit SnoPark and hike over Castle Pass and down to Round Valley near the Peter Grubb hut, where we will set up camp. This will be about 4 miles and 700 foot elevation gain. Depending on snow levels, we can build shelters or use tents. We will hike out on Saturday along Andesite Ridge, as conditions allow. Join us to celebrate the start of the winter season! Must be Alumni of the SF Bay Chapter’s Snowcamping Training Series. Trip limited to 12 participants.
• Lassen National Park: Lake helen
Trip is Wait Listed.
Enjoy three days over President’s Day weekend exploring the area around Lake Helen in Lassen National Park. We’ll meet Saturday morning at the Southern entrance to the park, snowshoe to Lake Helen and set up camp. We’ll spend Sunday exploring the area. On Monday morning we will break camp and head back to the cars.
• Yosemite: Exploring Crane Flat – Lookouts and Sequoias
Yosemite Snowcamping Near Crane Flat: Enjoy a long weekend exploring the area around Crane Flat in Yosemite National Park. We will stay Thursday night somewhere nearby. Friday morning we will drive to Crane Flat and then snowshoe to a nearby area to set up camp. We will then spend the rest of the day Friday, as well as Saturday, exploring the area to spots such as Tuolumne Sequoia Grove, Gin Flat, and Crane Flat Lookout or Clark Range Viewpoint. On Sunday morning we will break camp and head back to the cars. Must be Alumni of the SF Bay Chapter’s Snowcamping Training Series. Trip limited to 10 participants
• Sequoia Snowshoe
Trip is Active.
Snowshoe around the giant trees of Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Park. This snowcamp will take us on a loop amongst the sequoias of the Grant Grove in Kings Canyon. Moderate-to-strenuous snowshoeing or cross-country skiing, 3-4 miles a day, with some moderate elevation gain/loss. We’ll meet in the park on Saturday morning to set off for our campsite, take hikes on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, and head out after lunch on Sunday. Plan to drive from the Bay Area to Fresno on Friday and stay overnight the night before.
• Dewey Point Yosemite NP
This is a two-night trip camping at Dewey Point on the South rim of Yosemite Valley. On our layover day we will snowshoe to both Crocker and Stanford Points as day hikes. Starting elevation is approximately 7200’ and Dewey Point elevation is 7400’. We start at Badger Pass and hike about 3.5 miles to Dewey Point via the Meadow Trail with total elevation of 600’.
• Mt. Shasta Sierra Club Horse Camp Trip
Beautiful hike starting from the Bunny Flats parking lot and ending at the Sierra Club Lodge at Horse Camp. The trail follows a creek draining Avalanche Gulch through a wooded forest with occasional views of Mt Shasta’s Red Banks and Mt Eddy to the West.
